Lucknow : A three-day international conference at Bhatkhande University of Culture was recently organised in association with Naad – Nartan. On this occasion, in-depth discussions and research presentations on various aspects of music and theatre were held.
Prof. Ravi Sharma, told that Naad – Nartan is a NGO aimed at spreading Indian art and culture through various academic and stage events. In this international conference, students participated from across the globe to learn and spread the rich indian culture.
The first session was chaired by Dr. Seema Bhardwaj and Dr. Amandeep Singh. In this session,Dr. Pragya Pyasi presented a case study on recordings of Ustad Vilayat Khan.Dr. Vaijarasu Subrahmanyam gave a research talk on an endangered ancient Indian musical instrument like “Bhoomi Dundubhi.”Kalpana ji read out her research paper on the musical contribution of Banasthali Vidyapith.
During the discussion, Dr. Manoj Mishra suggested the formal introduction of the teaching of Tabla, which was unanimously accepted by the experts.During this session, Dr. Naresh Kumar said, “Excellent research in music is possible only when many languages are harmonized. For Indian research to reach the same standards as Western research, it is necessary to adopt their research methods and techniques. ”
The second session was chaired by Prof. Ravi Sharma and Dr. Naresh Kumar. In this session, Harmanjot Kaur presented her research on Dharna singing style of Punjab.Deepika Kadhekar presented a work on the musical contribution of artist Suhasini Kortkar of Bhendibazar Gharana. Usmeet Singh said in his research that instead of using film music in sabd singing, there should be raag based sankirtan.

Jaswinder Singh presented a paper on the contribution of Punjabi singer Surinder Kaur. Smita Rai presented a comparative study of traditional guru-shishya system and institutionalized teaching method. Rana Pratap presented a comparative study of traditional theatre style and contemporary Hindi theatre.
At the end of the session, Dr. Manoj Mishra expressed his views that studies based on artists like Suhasini Kortkar, Surinder Kaur, Kale Khan do not come under the category of research papers, rather they take the form of editing. Research papers must be original.
While concluding the session, Dr. Naresh Kumar advised the participants not to present the entire synopsis of P H.D. as a paper, but to give a small and fundamental part of it as a paper. “
